Located in the Central Embarcadero district of the spectacular San Diego Bay, CallisonRTKL is the master architect and brand strategist for Seaport San Diego.

The vision is to create a transformative, world class destination for all San Diegans and visitors to gather, learn, relax, play and celebrate San Diego’s unique waterfront.

Seaport is designed to prioritize accessible waterfront recreation with over 14 acres of Recreational Open Space, offering unique experiential connections with the water from urban beaches and living shorelines to overlooks, piers and expansive parks. The entire project is connected by an elevated coastal park experience: the Green Strand.

With 2.5million SF of diverse uses, Seaport offers something for all, from an expanded working waterfront where local fishermen sell the catch of the day at the new fishermen’s market to an immersive Blue Campus that promotes Oceanography education of San Diego’s unique ecosystem and biodiversity. R&D is served by a 300,000 SF Blue tech innovation labs and offices, an experiential 200,000 SF Aquarium and a new 80,000 SF Children’s Learning Center.

Diverse hospitality offerings with up to 2,000 keys serve everyone’s taste from the icon hotel, hip boutique and best in class luxury hotels to family friendly extended stays and cool hostels, all served by an activated ground plane of new restaurants, bars, coffee houses and visitor serving retail. Securing Seaport San Diego as a destination for both tourists and locals alike, there are also over 100,000 SF of attractions, a 4000-capacity Event Center and the centerpiece, the Iconic Observation Tower* a dynamic silhouette to enhance San Diegos identity providing publicly accessible panoramic views of the city, the bay and beyond.
