Development around a new airport capitalizes on the city's waterfront location.
In master planning the area surrounding what will be the most important airport in northeast China, CallisonRTKL capitalized on the city of Dalian’s nearby waterfront to form a fully connected, transit-oriented community to advance future growth. In addition to the feat of designing manmade islands, CallisonRTKL configured the best use of the land and provided a sense of place while enriching the lives of residents by uniting public transport, the coastal port and the soon-to-be-constructed airport with public spaces and facilities.
