Wrapping around the Yitong River, the master plan for the Changchun Economic Development Zone offers sustainable, transit-oriented living in a preserved natural landscape. CallisonRTKL designed two phases of the 15-SKM development, which includes parks, a cultural and amenity center, offices, residential neighborhoods, retail, a five-star hotel, restaurants and numerous transportation options. A central park acts as a green living room for community gatherings and serves the practical purpose of reducing the heat-island effect, enhancing natural ventilation and maintaining the landscape. Cycling paths and multiple train and water taxi links ensure accessibility recreational use.
