Washington Hospital Healthcare System, Morris Hyman Critical Care Pavilion

Washington Hospital needed an upgrade not only to ensure the hospital was able to continue to provide care in the event of a disaster, such as an earthquake, but also to continue serving the growing population throughout the Washington Township Health Care District, which encompasses Fremont, Newark, Union City, unincorporated Sunol and part of South Hayward. Originally designed to serve a community of 18,000 people, an expanded Emergency Room and progressive Critical Care Unit were much needed to meet the current and projected community size. CallisonRTKL provided transition services for the new 3-story pavilion; step two in the WHHS long-range master plan.
