The Watermark at Westwood

A new dawn for the Watermark at Westwood.

Located in the heart of Westwood, the project is well positioned to be part of a diverse and multi-generational community in a walkable, urban setting. This active senior-living community features multiple dining venues, integrative health and wellness programs and various amenities. By placing wellness at the forefront, the design envisions the independent senior and assisted living community not only as a context-aware, contemporary building with a mid-century modern aesthetic, but as a true care-based community tendering to the changing needs and lifestyles of the residents.

The design entails the repositioning of a 1960s, 14-story residential tower into a thriving residential community for seniors. Staying true to mid-century tradition, the continuity between the indoor and outdoor environments brings residents closer to nature in an urban setting, making full use of Southern California’s climate. The building is reflective of an approach which believes buildings should be regenerative and seek to deliver the most resilient, cost-effective and planet positive solution. By reusing an existing concrete structure, combined with a higher performing building envelope, the embodied carbon impact and operational carbon emissions are reduced.
