Shanghai Changzheng Hospital Pudong, The Second Military Medical University
This facility provides Shanghai’s residents with a modern university hospital.
In an effort to improve healthcare for residents on the outskirts of Shanghai, CallisonRTKL partnered with the Shanghai Changzheng Hospital Pudong to design a university hospital that provides patient care, research and education for this underserved community. It is the largest hospital ever built in one phase in China and features 2,200 beds. The design combines Chinese cultural values and feng shui principles with modern aesthetics to create a unique and much-needed medical facility.
