Dubai Hills Estate Mall
The innovative design for the retail component of CallisonRTKL’s master plan for Dubai Hills makes it a game-changer for the Middle East shopping experience. At Dubai Hills Estate Mall, shoppers enjoy two levels of retail and a rooftop cinema with access to six levels of multi-story parking.
The design team took a non-traditional approach to create a community-oriented mall using a “streets and squares” strategy, effectively bringing the exterior streetscape into the interior via shopfront detailing, lighting, canopies and other elements reminiscent of a traditional European shopping district. Other unique features include three “pocket parks” for dining, sports, leisure activities and community events, a dining destination known as the Urban Market and a large skylight canopy that serves as a projection screen for events and promotions.
