Swedish Health Services – James Tower Life Sciences Building
A former hospital is given a new lease on life.
As part of a three-block redevelopment of Swedish Medical Center’s Providence Campus, this former hospital was converted into a state-of-the-art biomedical research facility. Built in 1910, James Tower did not meet current seismic or operational standards. CallisonRTKL designed an in-fill to accommodate laboratories while preserving the historic character of the building. The ambitious project contains lab space, retail and administrative support areas leased by public and private organizations.
