U.S. Naval Academy: Preble Hall Museum
Pieces of history inspire the redesign of this on-campus museum.
This 48,000-SF U.S. Naval Academy museum, which houses over 65,000 artifacts, was in desperate need of an upgrade. With the original building dating back to 1939 and subsequent extension constructed in the early 1960s, it was time for a change. CallisonRTKL helped the facility by updating gallery spaces and adding new administrative offices, classrooms, bookstores and research facilities. The team also created climate-controlled archive spaces to safely store collection pieces. The redesign creates a user-friendly environment for both visitors and staff.
