CallisonRTKL Wins Mixed-Use Design Competition in China

Announcement | May 22, 2020

DALLAS, TEXAS—MAY 22, 2020—Global architecture, planning and design firm CallisonRTKL has won the Hangzhou Competition to design Qianjiang New City Phase II Neighborhood Centers. The Phase II commission is the firm’s second win. In 2018 CallisonRTKL was awarded the first commission, a collection of three residential-driven, mixed-use developments offering a unique blend of amenities, recreation and services to residents.

As a microcosm of Hangzhou’s life and culture, Neighborhood Center builds a bond between people and nature. The Center is an active space that promotes a modern, sustainable way of living. A grouping of recently built Neighborhood Centers has emerged as symbol of the diverse culture and integrated lifestyle of the city of Hangzhou.

“The CallisonRTKL team has an in-depth understanding of the client’s strategic goal in their effort to build high-quality and harmonious communities,” says Richard Huang AIA, LEED AP, vice president in CallisonRTKL’s Dallas office. “This Neighborhood Center 2.0 will create a community-based, human-centric, service-orientated, multi-functional hub in a central park environment, enhancing the sense of belonging and community participation.”
