The SoNo Collection Opens in Norwalk, Connecticut

Announcement | January 3, 2020

NEW YORK, NY – January 3, 2020 – CallisonRTKL is proud to announce the opening of a next-generation shopping experience in Fairfield County, Connecticut—the SoNo Collection. The mall artfully integrates into an existing, walkable downtown, offering a variety of entertainment, art and culture experiences for customers to enjoy while they shop.

“This project is based on an innovative design concept that knits the new mall into the existing SONO area of downtown Norwalk. The design breaks down the typical mall scale into a series of discreet downtown building elements  to better integrate into the existing business community of Norwalk,” begins Jeff Gunning, Senior Vice President in CRTKL’s Dallas office. “We worked with a talented team of collaborating consultants and contractors, as well as a visionary client team at Brookfield” (formerly General Growth Properties).

The space also hosts a variety of events, with everything from concerts to holiday photoshoots to group meditation. This helps to elevate the typical retail experience from simply grabbing boxes off shelves to a fully immersive experience.

Though the mall officially opened in the fall, the individual stores have been opening on a rolling basis. By 2020, the mall is set to be home to over 70 individual stores.
