Hyatt Centric Mountain View Debuts in Silicon Valley

Announcement | August 12, 2019

Dallas, TX – August 12, 2019 – The six-story, 167-key Hyatt Centric Mountain View has opened in Northern California’s Silicon Valley. The CallisonRTKL design for Hyatt Centric Mountain View reflects the casual but sophisticated atmosphere of California’s Silicon Valley and reinforces the essence of Hyatt’s exciting new brand. Located in the heart of The Village at San Antonio Center, a 56-acre dining-and-entertainment destination, the hotel strikes just the right tone for discerning and well-traveled guests: a discovered local gem that feels comfortable and familiar.

“What makes working with OTO Development and within the Hyatt Centric brand so appealing to us as architects,” says Clay Markham, Global Hospitality Leader for CallisonRTKL, “is that we get to capture the local vibe and translate it into design. We love telling stories through architecture, and the Hyatt Centric Mountain View is uniquely about the casual, sophisticated history and culture of Silicon Valley.”

The overall plan is organized around a series of interconnected public spaces, encouraging a social and collaborative vibe in keeping with the Valley’s lore. The hotel entry, as well as ground floor restaurants and retail spaces, blend indoor and outdoor “rooms” to take advantage of the area’s amenable climes and continue the district’s casual, commercial atmosphere. Direct views of the Village’s green spaces and promenade create the feel of an urban oasis, while the hotel’s more private zones (meeting and event spaces as well as the pool) sit atop a second-floor podium. Separate but connected, these spaces are ideal for private functions and guests who just want to relax and soak in the mountain views.

The building’s architecture has a dynamic, contemporary aesthetic that reinforces the Hyatt Centric brand: unique and artful but comfortable, like a good, long-time friend. Modern materials and clean lines suggest an urban, almost industrial vocabulary though the spaces have an approachable, curated feel that complements the location, the context and the market.

Guestrooms have been designed completely around an elevated guest experience—efficient and stylish, not a wasted gesture in sight. Each room has a dedicated workspace and seating area, and the overall room mix has been calculated to respond to the surrounding businesses and tech giants just outside the front door.
