Cannes, France – MARCH 10, 2022. A new Happiness Index will be launched on 15-18 March 2022 at MIPIM, with the entire real estate sector meeting in Cannes, France. The Happiness Ecosystem Index is set to be the global benchmark that measures happiness in the built and work environment.
Leading Egyptian developer Mountain View and global architecture firm CallisonRTKL have formed a ‘Happiness by Design’ partnership with culture coach Delivering Happiness Global, collaborating on a pilot project in Egypt with Mountain View’s ‘Happy HQ’ being used as a case study for the “science of Happiness” and “Science of Design” principles. Assessment and measurement is based on 5 Truths, which are divided into 20 Essentials, 40 Merits and 200 Pursuits. In turn, this formed The Happiness Ecosystem Index (HEI).
In effect, there are three components behind Happiness by Design. There is the science of design that represents Places (CallisonRTKL), the science of happiness that represents People (DH), and Mountain View provides the Pathway to connect them together to provide a happy quality of life.

During their time at MIPIM, the consortium will dive into the Happiness movement, exploring how something as intangible as Happiness can in fact be measured, and discussing the benefits of a Happiness-led building design approach for all people.

The keynote and panel discussion, entitled ‘Designing for happiness NOW: a new global index’, will be taking place at MIPIM in AUDITORIUM A, Palais des Festivals, 3-4pm on Wednesday, March 16th, and in the EGYPT PAVILION Stand C.16 at 4-5pm on Thursday, March 17th.
