Four CallisonRTKL Projects Win Gold in 2020 Shop! Design Awards

Four CallisonRTKL retail projects were honored in a virtual ceremony last week celebrating winners of the 2020 Shop! Design Awards. 7-Eleven, böhme, Fido and Nordstrom were all Gold winners in their respective categories.

The 7-Eleven Lab Store in Dallas is the first iteration of a completely new convenience store design. The Lab Store, which features a Laredo Taco, won gold in the Convenience category.

CallisonRTKL reimagined the design concept of the cellular phone company Fido with a hands-on makerspace (niche créative) for the brand’s Montreal Flagship. The flagship was awarded top honors in the Hardline Specialty Store (3,001-7,500) category.

Specialty retail brand böhme, with more than a dozen locations, is headquartered in Utah. The recently redesigned Salt Lake City location won top prize in the Softline Specialty Store (3,001-7,500 sf) category.

Working in conjunction with Nordstrom’s internal design team, CallisonRTKL was a design partner for Nordstrom’s Manhattan flagship on 57th Street. The 320,000 square-foot Nordstrom NYC Flagship received gold in the Department Store category.

“Over the past few months our industry has experienced more rapidly changing circumstances than ever before,” said Todd Dittman, Shop! Executive Director, in his introduction to the Shop! event celebrating the talent and creativity in the retail industry. “In response, retail must continue to change and evolve. We have to meet the social, health and business challenges we face using both experience and innovation.”
