As downtown apartment prices skyrocket across the United States, Millennials are packing up and moving out to find cheaper housing but still want convenience and variety. This has lead to an increase in mixed-use developments and vibrant neighborhoods popping up, despite their distance from the city center.
“These more affordable options are pulling millennials out to the suburbs, but they seek the urban feel,” says Daun St. Amand. This change in real estate development isn’t driven just by Millennials, but also older professionals and empty nesters. Amenities nearby like grocery stores, cafes and restaurants are still a must in these mixed-use spaces.
