“It’s important to learn how to get the most out of working with energy modelers and how to proactively lead the energy modeling process,” says Pablo.

The panelists will also address AIA’s newly revised Architect’s Guide to Integrating Building Performance Simulation in the Design Process, which the team co-authored. The session will focus on key takeaways from the guide, illustrating points with case studies and examples of how architects have led the energy modeling process.

Pablo La Roche is an associate vice president in CallisonRTKL’s Los Angeles office and a leader for the firm’s Performance-Driven Design initiatives. A tenured professor of architecture at Cal Poly Pomona University, Pablo is also an accomplished author; he has written more than 130 technical papers for journals and conferences, and his book Carbon Neutral Architectural Design placed in the top ten in Amazon’s Energy and Buildings category.

The A’19 Blueprint for a Better Future programming includes sessions on artificial intelligence, data visualization, 3D concrete printing, nano-grid condos, immigrant architects, the latest in WELL design, the energy-hog myth, designing border crossings and ports of entry, zero net energy affordable housing and new codes and standards.
