CRTKL’s Jan-Maurits Loecke Talks Achieving Net Zero on Designerati Podcast

Announcement | June 13, 2022

LONDON, England – June 13th, 2022 – CRTKL’s Jan-Maurits Locke, Associate Principal, was recently featured on The Designerati Podcast discussing his sustainability mission to educate the construction/architecture and design industry on how to achieve net-zero carbon output.

Buildings are responsible for 40% of greenhouse gas emissions, so we can all expect a lot of what we’re familiar with to soon change in line with legal industry mandates. Jan discussed the imminent process and shared his insight into how we can make changes in our businesses right now.

“I am the sustainability fellow for CRTKL London and Manchester, a global firm with 1,000 employees and offices on many continents,” Jan-Maurits begins. “Just purely by having nearly two thousand live projects per day that we work on, we have a voice and a responsibility as well. The firm has introduced several sustainability fellows worldwide, and they build teams in their regions. They are doing energy modeling and tracking carbon footprints. It’s very participative, and we believe that, by doing so, we will not only raise awareness, but we find the right vocabulary amongst ourselves internally and externally when we talk to clients because we need to have the right partners to make that happen.”
