BALTIMORE, Md. – February 10, 2021 – CRTKL was ranked #17 in Interior Design’s annual Top 100 Giants report for 2020. The firm was also ranked #1 in the Retail category.

Historic, tragic, relentless, and, in the end, a four-letter word—2020 was a lot of things. The annual survey of business trends among the 100 Giants, aka the industry’s largest firms, shows the damage done by the COVID-19 pandemic and also leaves us with questions—and some positive takeaways. See the full list here.

“In spite of the tremendous shock to the retail market in 2020 – and the new challenges of working and collaborating from home – our team of designers, architects, and retail experts continued to deliver incredible experiences for our clients,” says David Cassidy, CRTKL Principal and global leader of CRTKL’s Retail Practice. “2020 showed us that the strength of our Practice is in the strength of our partnerships as we helped our clients pivot their retail plans and create new visions of the future for their business and their customers.”

The first installment of the two-part annual business survey of Interior Design Giants comprises the 100 largest firms ranked by interior design fees for the 12-month period ending December 31, 2020. Interior design fees include those attributed to:

  • All types of interiors work, including commercial and residential.
  • All aspects of a firm’s interior design practice, from strategic planning and programming to design and project management.
  • Fees paid to a firm for work performed by employees and independent contractors who are “full-time staff equivalent.”
