CRTKL Cleans up at Shop! 2021 Design Awards

NEW YORK CITY, New York – June 1, 2022 — CRTKL has earned three wins at the Shop! 2021 Design Awards for the Tempur-Pedic NYC Flagship in Best Pivot (Gold Award), Buff City Soap for Hardline Specialty Store (Silver Award) and MLB NYC for In-Store Visual Display (Element Category). This is the Tempur-Pedic store’s fifth win.

The Design Awards celebrate achievements in new store design, renovations, fixtures, visual presentation projects and in-store communications with awards given for excellence in design, originality in the use of space and materials and quality of concept execution.

Tempur-Pedic has won five awards of excellence, including the Retail Design Institute Store of the Year 2021; Retail Design Institute Innovation Awards in both Materiality and Digital Integration, 2021; the VMSD Magazine Retail Renovation: First Place, 2021 and now the Shop! Association Gold Design Award: Best Pivot, 2021.

With elite, wellness-focused and experience-driven New Yorkers in mind, CRTKL’s in-house Client Experience (CX) team developed a one-of-a-kind immersive digital experience for Tempur-Pedic NYC. The highlight of the flagship experience exists within custom-designed immersive bed “pods.” In contrast to the concrete streets of Manhattan, each pod simulates stepping into a warm cabin retreat with captivating nature views. Revolving scenes beyond each digital “window,” like a breezy meadow or sunset beach, inspire sleep’s restorative and transformative power.

This is Buff City Soap’s third award of excellence, including its two Retail Design Institute Innovation Awards for both Environmental Graphic Design and Visual Merchandising. Inspired by the imagery of a bakery, the new 2,000-sq-ft Dallas location of Buff City Soap displays raw, all-natural ingredients and soap-making tools to create a level of transparency in the soap-making process.

CRTKL worked with Major League Baseball to conceptualize a unique New York City-focused retail experience to drive fan and tourist engagement. Situated in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, the MLB flagship is a state-of-the-art retail destination spanning two floors and more than 10,000 square feet. The store is the first flagship for Major League Baseball in the United States.
