CallisonRTKL’s Renée Schoonbeek to Present at APA New York’s Annual Conference

Announcement | October 17, 2019

NEW YORK, NY – October 17 2019 – CallisonRTKL’s Renée Schoonbeek will speak at the American Planning Association (APA) New York Metro Chapter’s Annual Conference on October 18 in New York City. She is set to moderate a panel entitled “Hudson Square: Celebrating 10 Years of Community” with panelists Ellen Baer (CEO & President, Hudson Square Connection), Carl Weisbrod (Senior Advisor, HR&A) and Shirley Secunda (Chair Traffic Committee, Manhattan Community Board).

Schoonbeek is a senior associate vice president and leads the planning and urban design team in CallisonRTKL’s New York City office. A visionary and results-driven urban planner, she has a wealth of experience in both public and private sectors in master planning, and economic and community development.

The Hudson Square Business Improvement District (BID) was established 10 years ago. Along with rezoning from industrial to mixed-use 5 years ago, the BID has been a catalyst for the transformation of the former Printing District into a hub of creative industries. The panelists will be discussing this community and economic development success story initiated through forward-thinking urban planning and public-private co-creation.

Thanks to the Hudson Square BID, the district has become an environmentally, economically and social sustainable 24/7 neighborhood.
