DALLAS—September 30, 2019—CallisonRTKL (CRTKL), the global architecture and design practice, announces the opening of a new workspace for Dallas-based law firm, Kane Russell Coleman Logan PC (KRCL).
KRCL, having just refreshed their corporate brand and facing an expiring lease, decided to move into one of Dallas’ most visible towers and charged CRTKL to translate the law firm’s core values into their workspace, boost the firm’s operational efficiency, and enrich the overall employee experience. CRTKL workplace experts Rina Burnett, Michael Horton, and Tess Hurry responded with a design that reflects KCRL’s elevated identity as much as it enhances the functionality of the workspace.
“KRCL is now in the tallest building in town,” says Rina Burnett, associate vice president in CallisonRTKL’s Dallas office. “So we knew their space had to be special, and their branding refresh gave us a lot to work with. They are also a practice that puts their clients first, and that sort of honesty and integrity is what really guided our design strategy—we wanted to move the needle on user experience.”
Simple, elegant lines, a tailored approach, and natural design elements create a space that feels efficient and modern but also warm and inviting. While there are private offices and ample areas for quiet work, there are also social spaces where employees can meet, collaborate, and unplug. The result is a space that is efficient, accessible, and friendly.
“The neutral colors and natural materials help create welcoming and comfortable connection points for employees,” says Burnett, who says the design relied on plant materials, wood floors, and natural stone. Throughout, layers of transparency, and natural light create just the right balance of privacy and openness. “This was extremely important to the client– we think we hit just the right note of delight and seriousness.”
