MIAMI—February 15, 2019— Broward County has chosen the Coral Gables office of CallisonRTKL to design the master plan for the redevelopment of the 140-acre BB&T Center property in Sunrise, FL. From Florida Panthers Hockey to the hottest shows, the BB&T Center is South Florida’s hub for sports and entertainment. The 867,000-SF BB&T Center is the largest arena in Florida, with a seating capacity of more than 21,000.
“CallisonRTKL’s combination of deep local knowledge and global architecture, planning and design expertise was to our advantage in the selection process,” said Dan Freed, vice president and Miami office director for CallisonRTKL. “We’ve designed The Mandarin Oriental Miami and Brickell World Plaza, and recently completed the design for the renowned Boulud Sud restaurant in the JW Marriott Marquis in the heart of downtown Miami.”
Local CallisonRTKL projects under construction include The Plaza Coral Gables, Hilton Miami Dadeland and the renovation of Corporate Center at 110 East Broward Boulevard.
