AU Las Vegas 2019: CRTKL Highlighted in Four Key Presentations

Announcement | November 12, 2019

DUBAI – November 12, 2019 – Senior Designer, David Weir-McCall from CallisonRTKL’s (CRTKL) Dubai office is scheduled to be a speaker at the Autodesk University 2019 conference held at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas. Also joining Weir-McCall are CRTKL colleagues Himani Shah, BIM Coordinator and Kashif Dafedar, senior designer, both from the Dubai office, and Associate, Caoimhe Loftus from CRTKL’s London office.

During the November 19-21 event, AU will connect 10,000+ professionals from construction, manufacturing, architecture, engineering, and media creation for four days of learning, networking, and knowledge sharing.

Speaking on the topic, “The Architect, the Client and the Game Engine – An Intro to Optimizing Workflows,” Weir-McCall will look at CRTKL as a case study, in how the firm has approached the software and identified the key challenges that are faced in the industry across multiple disciplines — from hospitality, urban planning and Retail — how to overcome them, and how to create seamless integration from BIM models to Unreal for maximum flexibility for the design team. The session will be November 20, from 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

Also, on November 20, from 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Loftus and Dafedar will participate in an offsite DynaLightning event at Senior Frog’s at Treasure Island.  The event is part of Dynamo’s annual user forum and party and will feature lightning round presentations where presenters will have 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide to tell a story about how they use Dynamo. Loftus will be presenting Binoculars an add-in developed as part of the UKDUG Hackathon earlier this year, which can be used to monitor Dynamo use. Dafedar will be presenting the CRTKL Scriptathon – a Dynamo and computational design training evening held across the London, Dubai and Manchester offices earlier this year.

“We are really looking forward to participating in AU Vegas this year. We really value the opportunity to learn from our industry colleagues and share our own skills and expertise at the event,” says Loftus.

During “The Transformation of Design,” on November 21 from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Weir-McCall and a panel of experts will explore how technological change is disrupting how we design, create, and make. And it might happen through generative design or machine learning to help create a better final result.

Shah and Dafedar will show attendees how to perform Parametric Design using Adaptive Points and how to work with Adaptive components in Revit with and without Dynamo during “Make your Revit Families smart and adaptive!!” The presentation is takes place on November 21 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
