AIA Shanghai/Beijing and CTBUH Both Appoint May Wei as Chair

SHANGHAI, China – July 1, 2022 – May Wei, Principal and Shanghai office leader, has been appointed to lead two prominent organizations within the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. May now holds the position of 2022 Chairwomen of the AIA’s Women in Architecture at AIA Shanghai|Beijing and the Chair of Architecture and Assembly at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).

 “I’m excited to bring CRTKL’s ethos around people,  planet, positive design to the AIA and CTBUH, together I know we can set a more sustainable and diverse standard for the AEC community,” says May.

“While I am in good company here, surrounded and supported by  many other female leaders, that isn’t always the case in this industry, so I take quite seriously the responsibility to help change that and to hold space for aspiring female designers and embolden the next generation of architects through mentoring and representation.”

“My aim is to promote and preserve environmentally and ethically conscious design, to shine a light on emerging talent and to celebrate the best of the built environment.”

This ESG Leadership Training Program is designed and taught by senior members of ULI member companies with decades of experience in subject matters. May was invited to teach the session entitled “Remodeling and Building Certification” on July 1st, 2022. 

As the 2022 Chairman of Woman Architect at AIA Shanghai|Beijing, May will discuss the importance of imbuing design with happiness to increase mental wellbeing.

“Tall Excellence: Seeking the Ideal in Vertical Urbanism” is a conference that tackles the challenge of a new type of urban density, one that seeks to provide more than just functional space and a marketable skyline. May will be a speaker for the highest award competition for Gemdale Viseen Tower.
