Announcement | February 25, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. – February 25, 2022 — The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has named CRTKL Principal Marc Fairbrother to its College of Fellows for 2022. FAIA (Fellow of the American Institute of Architects) is one of the highest honors that AIA bestows upon a member of the American Institute of Architects.

AIA Fellows are recognized with AIA’s highest membership honor for their exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society. Only 3 percent of the AIA members have this distinction.

Championing a collaborative, research-focused design approach, Marc Fairbrother reshapes the multi-family residential typology. He designs affordable, multi-use districts characterized by walkability, resiliency and a sense of community. With more than 30 years of practice experience, Marc Fairbrother has advocated for a new approach to multi-family housing, creating new residential developments that reflect the changing ways in which people live today.

In the course of this work, he has reshaped a major architecture firm, introducing in-house market research into its residential practice, which he established. His body of work has helped redefine the Washington, D.C., housing market and has expanded from there to influence residential development widely in the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom.
