NeoCon 2018: Design Trends to Watch

NeoCon is where design trends are born. Kelsey George notes five that were popping up everywhere.

Hello Yellow

Pops of sunshine yellow stopped the show at this year’s event. Several showrooms, including Knoll and Stylex, showcased beautiful sofas and sectionals in this happy hue.

Unexpected Finishes

Eclectic, unexpected finishes flooded the showrooms this year. Plywood and rose gold accessories stood out in the Sossego showroom while Knoll explored metallics and dichroic glass systems.

LVT Love

Shaw Contract proved it is no longer just textiles and carpet tiles that get to play with pattern. LVTs and vinyl flooring are now showing off realistic finishes and they’re better than ever.

Inspirational Messaging

Showrooms like JSI Community made a big statement this year by incorporating inspirational messaging into the overall design of a space, lifting morale and elevating creative energy.

Edgeless Solutions

Why stop at the wall? Extending paint, wall decals, murals and textural applications like wood slats are among the few solutions present at NeoCon this year.  As seen in the Haworth showroom, paint on the wall turned into same-color carpet, extending the wall solution beyond the normal perimeters and providing a different perspective.
