Tianjin Beichen Hospital
This healthcare facility relies on design to help achieve a notable accreditation.
In an effort to compete with some of the best hospitals in the world, Tianjin Beichen selected CallisonRTKL to design their new facility and help create a new identity for healthcare in China. The goal for this 60,000-SM facility was to meet requirements outlined by the Joint Commission International (JCI) standards, a highly regarded accreditation for organizations worldwide. Drawing on past work with JCI-accredited hospitals in Asia, CallisonRTKL was able to demonstrate the fundamental relationships between design and user experience. The entire approach is centered on the hospital’s “people first” model of care, borrowing elements from hospitality design to enhance the visitor experience. The facility also features state-of-the-art technology to improve patient outcomes. CallisonRTKL’s work on Tianjin Beichen Hospital helped to create a facility that not only meets international healthcare design standards, but will also serve as a lasting fixture in Tianjin.
