Thorntons Store Support Center Facility
CRTKL workplace team helps retailer foster productivity and reflect core values in their office environment.
Thorntons convenience stores have been around for decades, but continuing their legacy meant adapting and updating their workplace, particularly their Store Support Center Facility (SSC) that supports store-based team members. The old layout wasn’t flexible, did not aid in collaboration or allow for future growth, so CallisonRTKL’s workplace team stepped in. The team’s previous workplace strategy experience allowed for a multitude of recommendations and information gathering processes. Throughout the reconstruction period, the design team conducted vision sessions, focus groups, interviews and surveys to gain knowledge to ensure various workstyles and needs would be incorporated into the final design. Changes like placing executives with their teams near the central hub supports Thorntons goals of transparency and teamwork. Other updates include space for collaboration, a café, amenities and training space. These alterations allow for flexibility and room to adapt for the future.
