The Waterfront

CallisonRTKL’s design for The Waterfront draws inspiration from the historic beach towns of Southern California and its South Bay appeal. Over the years, fires and violent Pacific storms have taken their toll on the once flourishing waterfront. Through it all, the area has managed to maintain its unique charm and vibrancy. The new Waterfront design is based on what could have been here and what would have developed over time had the built environment not had to weather such harsh conditions. CallisonRTKL’s design also eases north/south pedestrian movement along the water’s edge, as well as vehicular movement along Pacific Avenue. The new Waterfront embraces the past while addressing how we live today, creating Redondo’s new living room and bringing world-class recreation together with the comfort of community.
