HHS Consolidation at Mary Switzer Building

CRTKL helps a crucial government agency maximize space and achieve its mission

Working through a complex consolidation process with a critical government agency is never an easy task, and the Health and Human Services consolidation at Mary Switzer was no exception. As part of the Federal initiative to improve space utilization and consolidate real estate, more than 1,500 HHS employees from five unique operating units were chosen to occupy the modernized Mary Switzer Building in Southwest Washington, DC.

CRTKL was responsible for planning, design and budget development. The newly renovated space encompasses smaller workplace footprint standards, a greater percentage of open-plan workstations, shared support and service areas, and common floor layouts. Teaming with HHS, GSA and the selected move contractor, CRTKL also coordinated complex change management activities to make the transition as smooth as possible.
