Chevron East Providence

When major property owners with a stake in East Providence’s southern waterfront needed a comprehensive vision to guide future development of the mostly vacant land, they turned to CallisonRTKL to chart a course for the future. The goal was to align public and private investment for maximum financial impact and to respond to the site constraints, including flood-prone areas, degraded soil and a dramatic slope. After public listening sessions and meetings with local and state agencies, the team devised a strategy to use green space to connect the neighborhood to the water while providing flood protection, storm water management and public access to the water’s edge, resulting in a new mixed-use waterfront designed with placemaking, stewardship and resiliency in mind.
