Wheeling Town Center Wins CISCO 2019 Project of the Year Award in New Construction/Suburbs

Announcement | January 10, 2020

CHICAGO, Ill. – January 10, 2020 – the CRTKL-designed Wheeling Town Center, the transit-oriented mixed-use development in Wheeling, Illinois, has won the Construction Industry Service Corporation (CISCO) 2019 Project of the Year award in the category New Construction/Suburbs (over $20 million). CallisonRTKL served as the architect, working in partnership with Wheeling Town developer, The Lynmark Group.

The Wheeling Town Center is built on a 16.2-acre site with a 600,000 square-feet, five-story, 300-unit apartment building that wraps around a 25,000 square-foot plaza with a pool, putting green, bocce court, fire pit, BBQ grills and a gazebo. An additional 100,000 square feet of retail area, anchored by a 10-screen movie theater, includes several restaurants and shops that are a short walk from the apartments. The development is adjacent to the Wheeling Metro Station with North Central service into Union Station in Chicago.

The Project of the Year Award is a part of CISCO’s Pride in Construction Award Program—a program in which the awards highlight the positive industry impacts and accomplishments of construction projects in the past calendar year.
