DALLAS, Texas – October 13, 2020 – The CRTKL-designed Warren Clinic in Tulsa, Oklahoma has been awarded an AIA 2020 Healthcare Design Award, presented by the Academy of Architecture for Health (AAH).

“Our CRTKL team is so proud of the AAH AIA recognition for the Warren Clinic,” says Eurico Francisco, Vice President in CallisonRTKL’s Dallas office. “We know that the jury selects the winners from a large number of high-quality submissions, and Warren Clinic’s success is a testament to the dedication and skill of our team and to the support of our clients. We couldn’t be happier.”

Warren Clinic is a part of a trio of clinics serving the Tulsa, Oklahoma, region. They are built on a modular approach to health care– allowing them to be patient-friendly, highly efficient and easily adapted to other potential sites in the area. Functionally, the clinics offer primary and urgent care as well as imaging services for the Saint Francis Health System, but their clinical prototype upends the traditional model and allows for seemingly endless configurations. Each clinic features a modular pod concept that is organized around four physicians, a number that was determined to work best from an operational standpoint. The pods boast 12 examination rooms and ample support and workspace. When multiple pods are linked, the support spaces can be easily shared, allowing each site to adapt to the needs of the community it serves.

The team embraced an on-stage/off-stage approach to enhance the patient experience while creating a comprehensive staff area. All visitors enter a gallery space and are then escorted to decentralized waiting areas that sit outside each exam room. The staff spaces, which remain separate from visitors to maintain confidentiality, encourage collaboration and provide staff members with direct access to each exam room.
