The Watermark at Westwood Wins for Renovation/Repositioning at SHN Awards

Announcement | December 21, 2021

LOS ANGELES, California – December 21, 2021 – CRTKL-designed The Watermark at Westwood has won for renovation/repositioning at the Senior Housing News Awards.

The Watermark at Westwood Village was originally a UCLA dormitory in the 1960s, and has since gone through an extensive four-year renovation — resulting in modern interiors and amenities with a historic structure. CRTKL acted as the architect and worked in tandem with and design firm HBA. The building has also been retrofitted to become the first non-ductile concrete structure within the City of Los Angeles to comply with the latest seismic safety ordinance — ensuring the safest environment possible for its members and associates.

The Senior Housing News Architecture & Design Awards have celebrated unique projects and companies that are improving the lives of seniors through innovative design. A team of expert panelists from the senior living industry judge entries across 14 categories: evaluating the design and aesthetic criteria, landscape architecture and community functionality.
