Ventimiglia, Italy — May 11, 2021 — Presenting ‘Marina di Ventimiglia,’ the urban regeneration project master-planned by CRTKL and brought forward by Marina Development Corporation (MDC) that aims to create a new tourist and accommodation destination on the seafront — with an international reach, but with an Italian vocation. The investor is the BDF fund (MDC is the advisor).

Marina di Ventimiglia, comprised of a total investment of 200 million euros, will develop on a total area of 57,000 square meters for a usable area of over 18,000 square meters. It includes several interventions: the main one, Borgo del Forte, will affect the Scaglietti and Marina San Giuseppe area.

Here, a high-end hotel structure will be built with a 5-star hotel featuring 20 rooms, a gym, spa and restaurant, along with 60 apartments managed by the same hotel and a further 70 branded apartments. Borgo del Forte will allow the preventive safety of the territory on which it will rise and redevelop that quadrant of the city of Ventimiglia which has already seen a part of it reborn thanks to the soon-to-be inaugurated “Cala del Forte” tourist port.

The project also includes the construction of the La Rocca restaurant and Club Italia — which involves the transformation of the “former ACI” building into a Food & Beverage (F&B) center of excellence.

In addition, the Borgo del Forte Campus will be built in the Campasso area (30,000 square meters) behind the naturalistic area that rises at the mouth of the river Nervia: an international campus with a public green park, six tennis courts, an Olympic swimming pool, a school with an adjoining dormitory for teachers, students and athletes and an event space. The intervention also includes the redevelopment of existing warehouses with mixed functions.

“We are proud to announce the urban regeneration of the Marina di Ventimiglia which, thanks to a virtuous Public/Private collaboration and through sustainable development and protection of the values of the territory, wants to contribute to the widespread redevelopment of the city and to position Ventimiglia among the main tourist destinations in national and international level,” said MDC CEO Giuseppe Noto.

Marina di Ventimiglia will contribute significantly to the local economy. According to an analysis by Nomisma, for every euro invested in the project, more than three are expected to be generated. The investment in the works is equal to 154 million euros (of the 200 million euros in total), and its impact on the territory is said to be over 540 million euros.

In addition, approximately 300 will be employed in the operating phase alone. The economic and social impacts do not end in the period of implementation of the project, but will also be found in the following years when the area, activities and services will be fully operational.

The project complies with the general objectives of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development and the minimum requirements for nZEB (nearly Zero Energy Buildings).
