CRTKL’s Preeti Mogali Discusses Avenues to Sustainability on Beyond the Walls Podcast

Announcement | June 13, 2022

DUBAI, UAE – June 13th, 2022 – CRTKL’s Preeti Mogali, Associate, was recently featured on Middle East Architect’s Beyond the Walls podcast.

Now more than ever, climate activists are pushing for sustainable measures as we look towards implementing a greener future. After all, an estimated 40% of the world’s carbon dioxide emissions come from buildings. So, what can architects do about the same? Is it the onus of architects to educate clients on sustainability? Do certifications have a role in determining how green a project is? Or do they not matter?

In this episode of Beyond the Walls, we dig deep to understand the implications of having a greener built environment. Ayesha Ismail, principal architect at SSH, and Preeti Mogali, associate architect at CRTKL, join in deliberating this critical issue.

“When you’re designing projects, say in European regions or the United States, sustainability is more embedded, because it’s driven by the government regulation,” Preeti begins. “But, when you design for this region, where energy is quite subsidized, that does not necessarily come up as a requirement in, say, maybe 50% of our projects. We can then lead the conversation and educate the client—telling them the benefits they have, not just financially, but even in terms of long-term social responsibility.”
