Announcement | December 15, 2021

NEW YORK CITY, New York – December 15, 2021 – Laura Lewi, Associate in CRTKL’s New York City office and Kayla Paff, Designer in CRTKL’s New York City office, are co-chairs of the IIDA NY Retail Forum and hosted a panel event called “Shopping the Generations” last Tuesday. Sarah Wicker, Director of Research in CRTKL’s Chicago office, moderated a “focus-group” style panel composed of two representatives from each generation: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X and Boomer.

The panel explored how consumers across generations shop and their expectations of retail in the future. Across the board, there was great emphasis placed on sustainability, strong brand values and personal connection with salespeople. Opinions differed among generations, including that the Boomers interviewed were interested in a brand’s physical signage, while Millennials were more interested in a brand’s online marketing presence – but shared many similarities as well.
