Christie Ramos Pacheco, Senior Associate in CRTKL’s Miami office, recently gave her thoughts to Gregg Wallis for Inspire Design on Pantone’s  New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2022 Color Palette and created a mood board for the upcoming design season:

Pantone’s spring and summer colors will be everywhere in materiality. In hotel spaces, these colors will be prominent within amenities, restaurants and accent decor pieces in guestrooms. For example, a backsplash in a fitness center, tile in retail and drapery in lobbies.

We tend to look at fashion when designating color trends. We’re seeing today that many people want colors that are synonymous with tranquility—colors that evoke the same feeling as being in a spa. They don’t want flashy colors, but rather something relaxing and luxurious. Our team recently worked on a project and developed a rich, neutral color story with backwashes that draw the eye without overwhelming.

I foresee the blush color taking off in the spring. In recent years, we’ve seen a lot of green and tropical colors. As this phases out, blush will take precedence as it is a complementary color and a beautiful neutral. It’s a color people naturally gravitate towards. Overall, color stories in hospitality will remain neutral but with strong pops of color. Yellow will be especially popular against blush tones and warmer browns.
