Announcement | December 11, 2020

DUBAI, U.A.E. – December 11, 2020 — CallisonRTKL (CRTKL)’s Mamsha Al Saadiyat has been named the Best Residential Project in the UAE during the 16th edition of the Construction Week Awards. The project received top honours, with judges commenting that the development brought “a novel concept to life”, blending into its surroundings to deliver a superlative residential experience.

Located in the Cultural District of Saadiyat Island, only a short distance from the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the future sites of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and the Zayed National Museum, the award-winning Mamsha Al Saadiyat evokes the crisp, clean architecture of Miami beach in its design. The leading destination contains three plots consisting of nine residential towers, and one plot, consisting of a beach promenade that overlooks the waters of the Arabian Gulf. Mamsha Al Saadiyat houses a range of dining, entertainment, and retail outlets which are available along the signature element of the project, the 1.4km promenade that stretches along the shoreline of Saadiyat Island, displaying the best-in-class design that CallisonRTKL implemented across the development.

Matthew Tribe, Executive Director at CRTKL, commented: “This award is testament to CallisonRTKL’s continued practice of taking a holistic management in the design and development process. With our teams engaged from the initial conception of the project to its eventual completion, we have been involved the design of this stunning project from, quite literally, the ground up, setting the benchmark for residential design across the region.

“We used urban design techniques to weave cultural infrastructure and daily commodities together to create a community that is oriented around people, yielding economic and social benefits. Such a philosophy showcases how CallisonRTKL is pioneering new residential design across the Middle East. It is a great honour to receive this recognition from Construction Week for what we hope will be a fantastic addition to the superlative atmosphere of Saadiyat Island.”

CRTKL’s teams developed the respective locations of each of the buildings in Mamsha Al Saadiyat to be responsive to local climate conditions, and undertook a range of assessments throughout the design stage to ensure strong views of the Arabian Gulf and Saadiyat Island’s cultural district. Early works commenced in 2015, with main works commencing in 2016. Construction works on Mamsha Al Saadiyat concluded in June 2020, with the first residents of the development moving in shortly thereafter.

Held annually, the Construction Week Awards celebrate the achievements of the region’s construction sector, with multiple awards that recognise individual excellence, corporate prowess, and project success. This year’s ceremony was held on 9 December 2020 at the JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai and saw attendance of contractors, consultants, and developers from across the Middle East.
