Coined “the Pride of Bangkok,” Siam Paragon is the first mega shopping complex in Thailand. Occupying one of the busiest transit intersections in the city, the shopping center takes advantage of its prominent location by serving as a critical link to the surrounding district. CallisonRTKL’s design reflects the level of luxury envisioned by the project’s development team with a dramatic glass atrium that serves as the center’s grand entrance. Perhaps the center’s greatest accomplishment–and challenge–is the way it addresses issues of circulation and layout. With over 250 high-end stores, strategic retail groupings and escalator arrangements minimize pedestrian congestion and provide convenient access throughout the space. The mall also features a supermarket, cinema, bowling alley, convention hall and international food court. The integration of these unique features makes Siam Paragon a celebrated landmark and the most Instagrammed spot in the world in 2013.
