Kunming Shuncheng Retail Center

CallisonRTKL’s design for the Kunming Shuncheng Retail Center preserves the culturally and historically important Shuncheng street, making it the centerpiece of this mixed-use development. To create a pedestrian-friendly retail neighborhood that embodies the outdoor living associated with Kunming’s temperate climate, the retail podium was divided into city blocks on diagonal grids, which mimic the organic formation of grids in an older city. Residential and office towers face the street’s central garden to further establish a cohesive community.
