The CallisonRTKL design team knew this FDA project would be no easy feat. Responsible for the safety of U.S. food, drugs, medical devices and cosmetics, this federal agency employed more than 5,000 people in 40 building at 18 locations in the Washington, DC area. To consolidate these facilities and create a consistent culture, CallisonRTKL modeled the 2 million-SF site after a “great university campus.” The new headquarters maximizes connectivity, bolsters workflow and enhances operations.
