Chengdu Pearl River New Town
CallisonRTKL’s designs give Chengdu’s central business district a new lease on life.
With a design concept inspired by Chengdu’s famous brocade cloth and patchwork fields, Pearl River New Town will be the heart of the city’s new central business district. In addition to providing the master plan for the surrounding district, CallisonRTKL designed a four-level shopping mall, two office towers of 35 and 50 stories respectively, and two Small Office/Home Office buildings of over 40 stories each. The mall’s exterior is covered in ribbon-like metal panels highlighted by LED accents and graphic boards. The top of each tower is warmly lit to enhance the city’s skyline. The overall result is an interconnected community grounded in tradition but poised for the future.
