Exceeding the client’s goals for sustainability, this tall tower maximizes style with a minimalist design.
The 216-meter tall AVIC Center tower bookends the mixed-use CATIC City Shenzhen development, offering panoramic views and acting as an anchor to the adjacent city park. The design team implemented a number of green strategies to meet sustainability goals, such as a green roof and an energy-efficient façade. Highly efficient HVAC and MEP systems conserve energy, while hollow glass provides a significant reduction in UV radiation. The use of glass fins on the exterior of the building adds a subtle texture to the smooth skin and reinforces the modern aesthetic. The end result is a design that echoes CATIC’s brand image, creating a timeless icon in Shenzhen.
